Being behind the wheel of a Formula Challenge single seater racing car is an adventure-based driving experience and one that aspiring racing drivers thrill to. TrackTime offers a three-hour introduction to racing at its Formula Challenge Racing School in Taupo. This can be the first rung on the motor racing ladder or a way to develop, motivate and reward employees. The skills learned here will make you not only a better race car driver, but a better driver on the roads.
The course includes classroom instruction from a professional driving instructor who is also a former national motor racing champion. Once the basics are well understood, tuition moves to the race track for the thrill of driving a race-prepared Challenge single-seater racing car. With an emphasis on car control, safety and precision driving, instructors familiarise students with the racing line, race-style down-shifting, braking and cornering.
The Formula Challenge car has a sequential gearbox with F1-type paddle gear change system and a top speed of 230 kilometres per hour, which gives enough of an adrenalin rush for the most hardened speed-junkie.
